Brian McKnight grew up in a family where music came naturally. He was a member of the church choir along with his immediate family; his grandfather was the director.

He formed a band and began performing his originals at local venues. By the age of 18, McKnight had secured a publishing deal. His calling to the national scene manifested itself when his older brother Claude and the group he was a member of, Take 6, signed a recording contract with a major label.

After sending out numerous demos to various record companies, McKnight's tape drew the interest of Mercury Records president Ed Eckstine. Eckstine was so impressed with McKnight's sound that the young artist was signed to a deal within two weeks.

Since his self-titled debut in 1991, McKnight became a household name after the release of hit singles like “One Last Cry,” “Anytime,” “Back at One,” and “Love Is,” a duet with Vanessa Williams featured on Beverly Hills 90210. Ten albums and sixteen years later, the Grammy-nominated artist has sold over 16 million albums establishing himself as one of the best cross-over artists of his time. Now on Warner Bros., his latest disc titled Ten was released in December 2006 featuring guests such as Jill Scott and Rascal Flatts. His latest single, “Used to Be My Girl” is riding high on the charts.

When asked of his new role as a radio personality on The WAVE, McKnight commented, “The WAVE is one of my favorite radio stations, so to be joining the station as host of the morning show is incredibly exciting. Pat Prescott and I have a lot of exciting things planned for the show. I can't wait to get started!”

Pat Prescott is a native of Hampton, Va. and a graduate of Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.After teaching junior high school for five years, she started her radio career at WYLD-FM in New Orleans.

Pat has spent most of her career in New York,beginning with a stint as music director and midday announcer at legendary jazz station WRVR. She held a number of positions at WBLS and WLIB, including morning show host, news announcer, talk show host and public affairs director. For thirteen years Pat was the morning show host at New York’s smooth jazz station CD 101.9.

After six years of co-hosting the morning show on 94.7 The WAVE in Los Angeles with popular saxophonist Dave Koz, Pat is now co-hosting the Wave’s morning show with singer-songwriter Brian McKnight.

Pat is very active in the community. She is also the recipient of Radio and Records’ Smooth Jazz Personality of the Year Award for 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006.
