Take Action On World Alzheimer’s Day
There’s not a worse feeling in the world than watching the memory of loved one deteriorate right before your eyes and being left feeling helpless of not being able to reverse its effects. Although many of us think to ourselves, “this will never happen to me,” the sad truth is this disease affects 1 in 8 people over the age of 65 and nearly half over the age of 85. These shocking statistics have come to the attention of notable celebrities, victims and advocates alike who are taking action against this crippling disease and need you to join in on the cause for World Alzheimer’s Day.
September 21st is World Alzheimer’s Day, which is raising awareness on the devastating effects of Alzheimer’s and uniting people everywhere to take action and raise money to fight against this disease that affects an estimated 35 million people worldwide and only continues to increase. By 2050, the chances of developing Alzheimer’s will grow to a staggering number of 100 million, that is unless we fight for a cure.
Lea Thompson and Barbara Streisand‘s sister Roslyn Kind stopped by the WAVE Morning Show With Pat & Kim to talk more about what they’re doing to raise awareness and fight against the disease and how you can help. Educate yourself on the warning signs of Alzheimer’s and join others by donating to the cause at Actionalz.com or by participating in a Memory Walk in you community.
