Elizabeth Taylor Wins ‘WIN’ Living Legend Award

The Women’s Image Network (WIN) bestowed the Living Legend Honoree award to Dame Elizabeth Taylor earlier this week. Her long career includes two Oscar wins in 1960 for Butterfield 8 and again in 1966 with Who’s Afraid Of Virginia Wolf ?
Elizabeth has appeared in 55 films, including her sultry performance in 1958′s Cat On A Hot Tin Roof with Paul Newman, 1963′s controversial Cleopatra with future husband Richard Burton, a 1951 masterpiece Place In The Sun featuring Montgomery Clift, and as a teenager, her first big film, 1942′s National Velvet with Mickey Rooney.
Her tireless dedication to AIDS research,(she founded amfAR), and business skills in marketing her perfume fragrances White Diamonds, Passion, and Gardenia contribute greatly to her legacy.
My favorite Elizabeth Taylor film was the 1965 release The Sandpiper, also starring Richard Burton. The sad yet gripping film of a lonely woman pursuing a man she could never get was shot near the beautiful Carmel By The Sea, and featured the brilliant, and haunting song, “Shadow Of Your Smile” performed by legendary trumpeter Jack Sheldon.

Hello! My wife and I would like to see a video or some photos
of Liz Taylor accepting her WIN Award. We understood that
Mickey Rooney made the presentation. Are there photos/videos
available?

Henry,
Mickey Rooney was indeed there to present the award. He looks great at 91.Sadly, Elizabeth could not come to the show to accept. Carl Reiner,
John Savage, and Sally Kirkland also attended. I did not take any pictures that evening, however I am checking with a photographer who did take pictures of Mickey that evening. If I can get permission to use those,I will post them on the website.
