GRAMMY award winning artist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]George Benson[/lastfm] announced some great news, the release date of his brand new album, Guitar Man, on October 4th.

Guitar Man will feature 12 songs which include both a mix of jazz and pop standards featuring Benson along with pianist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Joe Sample[/lastfm], keyboardist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]David Garfield[/lastfm], bassist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ben Williams[/lastfm] and drummer [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Harvey Mason[/lastfm].

Benson described using an “old school” approach to recording the new album, which included very little rehearsal time giving the songs more of a live experience feel.   Many of which were recorded with minimal takes in a single day of recording.

Keeping with this legendary Jazz roots, the album opens with the song entitled “Tenderly,” a solo guitar act by Benson.  Other songs include “My Cherie Amour,” “Tequila,” “My One and Only Love” and many more.  Also included on the album is a version of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]John Lennon[/lastfm]’s and [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Paul McCartney[/lastfm]’s “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”

In conjunction with the release of Guitar Man, Benson will kick off a tour which will include not only select songs from the new album, but some of his classic hits.

No Southern California dates have been announced yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as they’re announced.
