Hey, the AABC is great, but making comments like that is not only disrespectful towards the other choirs, but also gives a bad image to the Chorus, because manners and discipline are some of the key foundations of the organization. So please dull the fangs on your patriotism a few notches. Thank you.

If you’re voting based on talent and sound then you’re voting for The All-American Boys Chorus. They’ve performed literally all over the world and have even sung a private concert for the pope himself at his request. There’s not another choir here that can make any of these claims nor hold a candle to the talent and sound of this choir. They’ve been in existence for over 40 years and are clearly the most talented group on the list.

November 17, 2011 3:32 pm
Also, we have performed at Disneyland with Josh Groban. I went to Asia and Australia with this choir. We recently performed for Muhammad Ali, too. Look us up on youtube. There are many great videos of us there.
ananymous
November 18, 2011 3:46 pm
well that’s great that you had those opportunities. You sound like they have had a positive effect on the members. For my school, Los Altos, this contest is detrimental to our existence. We desperately need money due to lack of funding. Recently, our district has limited our funding on only fundraisers and donations. Without this donation, Los Altos Production Choir could face being cut as a program. Surely you know the importance of choir in your life, and would hate to end that experience for 36 people.
Tony
November 21, 2011 12:32 pm
So you’re saying people should vote for Los Altos choir because you need money and not because you’re the best one out there….As I stated before…If this contest is base on talent there’s no question who the winner is.
ananymous
November 21, 2011 8:35 pm
trust me,Los Altos has the talent to stand against anyone. This video may not show it, but in live performances, Production is by far one of the most entertaining show choirs in southern california. Unlike the boys chorus, they have never had the opportunity to showcase their talent on a grand scale. If they had the chance, and the resources needed to excel, they could be superior.
Tony
November 22, 2011 11:26 am
You obviously don’t know the history of the AABC then….They started as a little church group and sang barbershop quartet style music and doing small performances at local pizza parlors and grew from there. They weren’t “given” opportunities by anyone. They earned everything they have to include their reputation and current standing. For you to suggest that they were somehow given these opportunities to become the great organization that they are today is an insult to all the hard work and efforts that was put in by the founding members all the way through to the current members. Opportunities are made through hard work and diligence. Quite frankly, your sense of “entitlement” is quite insulting to say the least.
Joseph L
November 22, 2011 11:32 pm
@ananymous No offense, but the contest isn’t for “who needs the money.” It’s for the best/favorite. Saying that the AABC has already had an opportunity to perform on a professional level is only an asset in this contest. It’s based on what they can do, not charity. Though, for the record, the AABC hasn’t benefitted from this economic decline, if you know what I mean.

November 17, 2011 3:23 pm
I think the top three choirs should be invited to perform. The audience can pick the best group there. Second and third place could be rewarded a small amount for thier program like $500.Having competing choirs would add a little more spark to the event and help to not disapoint a close second place choir from being eleminated.
ananymous
November 20, 2011 8:43 am
What a great idea. I hope the Wave will consider doing so. Having the top three choirs would definitely add to the experience.

Why does everybody here like St.Anne’s they are so cheesy. Vote for All American Boys Chorus i think thats real choir.
Eric Hartman
November 20, 2011 11:12 am
T Curt, it isn’t necessary to revert to name calling, that type of behavior just diminishes the overall idea of choral programs. The All American Boys Choir is obviously talented, and anyone who is associated with them would agree. Those of us at St. Anne feel that our choir is also talented and our opinion is just as valid as yours, so play nice. : )
Cari D
November 22, 2011 8:45 am
@ Eric, I’m sorry anyone would feel it necessary to slander the other programs. I’m sure the members of all the choirs work hard and love singing with their groups.
@ T Curt, Please remember the goal of the All American Boys Choir is to shape the lives of it members. “Self-discipline, responsibility, unselfish cooperation, and personal poise”
The boys I know in this organization have character and good hearts. Certainly we want them to win, but so do the other groups. Your vote is all that is necessary to achieve that goal, not spreading poison against others.
Michelle L

The All American BOY’S Chorus take the Prize!!!! There is no comparison here… The other groups are great no doubt, BUT they are all ADULTS. Don’t be fooled by the Boys chorus, they are 100% professional, expertly trained by actual music teachers who themselves are highly educated and trained, they have appeared in many T.V. commercials, sang along-side professional artist: John Williams, Josh Groban, Bob Hope, Victor Borge, Steve Allen, Della Reese, Melissa Manchester, and John Schneide. Sang before dignitaries, and have traveled around the world dozens of times…with a large fan base. AND…each RED SHIRT BOY (Concert Chorus Level) CAN BY THEMSELVES, HOLD THERE OWN! You need a soloist? Pick any boy and have your heart melt away.
They are the real deal!!!!!! Please, let them earn your vote.

The St Anne Knights girls are just kids; let any of the kids win this and have the advantage of earning money for their programs while performing in an event that the All American Boys clearly have had the blessing of doing so numerous times around the world as others have described. This event is about the celebration of the holidays and those are and should be about the kids not a group of professionals usch as the All American Boys. They are great no question but make it about the kids.

The All American Boys Chorus are just kids, too! I’m a teenager with friends in the chorus. Although the AABC may sound professional, it’s not some super-special choir school or anything. Every single member is between the ages of 8 and 16 and goes to normal schools across Southern California. They’re just a bunch of normal kids who have dedication, musical passion, and talent. It’s not like they are “professionals” per se, but more like a choir not attached to any school that happens to attract immense talent for the staff and boys. Plus, its a non-profit organization that brings in money only by performances which have become rarer due to the recession. They don’t have a lovely school that could pay for it with portions of tuition. Just remember that they are just normal kids like the ones at St. Anne’s and many are younger than the ones from there.

AMEN TO YOU STEVE! i like your comments.Let a great sounding.awesome personalities and the most deserving group win this thing. Not a professional group, not a group that does not need the money or the exposure.LOS ALTOS is that group!Budget cuts have put our Arts Dept.at risk of being lost.I don’t want that to happen, these kids work so hard. And they have my vote! Love you guys!!!

November 19, 2011 5:26 pm
To put it bluntly, this is a competition for the best choir, not the group of kids that can dance (not too well, either) and do not sing well enough to make this competition, in my opinion. If this is your position, all of the adult choirs are excluded. Finally, if you will be so narrow-minded to only put your vote to the kids, the Imaginations are hugely underrated and deserve to be miles ahead of St. Anne’s.

This competiton is supposed to be about talent – not about kids. Many of the acts in the competition aren’t even children. It’s nothing personal, it’s simply that the most TALENTED group should win. It shouldn’t be a popularity contest.

It is about the kids. As a parent of one of the boys in the All American Boys Chorus, it is definitely about the kids. The boys have only had the opportunity to travel because their families make it a priority financially to give them the opportunity. As a single mom I have sacrificed a lot to make sure that my son is able to participate in such an amazing program, as have many of the other families represented in our chorus. So please make no mistake that for the families of the All American Boys Chorus it is absolutely about the kids.

Los altos is a public school. we work our butts off to get to do the things that we want. MANY fundraisers, donating from our own pockets. boys choir and st. Anne’s are both private. they get money to put those programs on. los altos deserves this… they worked hard. and im proud of them. dont put your heads down PC. we we are doing great.. keep up the hard work
Stacey Harrison
November 21, 2011 8:42 pm
Being a public school teacher I understand how hard it is to keep a music program running and I applaud your effort and hard work. However being a mom in the All American Boys Chorus, you must not realize that we get no funding from anywhere to run our program except through the concerts the chorus does. We are a non-profit organization that is solely run on concert revenue and money raised from the fundraisers that we have throughout the year. We also have to pay rent for our rehearsal space. I cannot speak for St Anne’s but the Boys Chorus works VERY hard to maintain its program and raise money.

The All American Boys Chorus is not even a school. This is a very diverse group of boys from all around Orange County, ages 7 to 16. Many of the boys, myself included, go to public schools.
Tony
November 22, 2011 11:39 am
So let me ask you this: Where exactly do you think The All-American Boys Chorus gets funds for their programs? Do you think the chorus fairy just drops dollars in their pockets? They also do fund raisers and “work their butts off” to get the things they need. The parents of the boys in the choir sacrifice and pay for them to be able to do many of the things that they do. I’m assuming that Los Altos has a choir teacher? Does that teacher work for free? Of course not. That teacher receives a salary paid for by the school district. The Boys Chorus has teachers too. The difference is that their teachers aren’t paid for by public school funds. They are paid from funds derived from fund raisers, concert fees and donations. To suggest that The Boys Chorus somehow has a financial advantage and just magically has money dropping from the sky into their pockets is laughable at best. You are obviously misinformed.

I watched every single entry’s video. There’s no doubt that The All-American Boys Chorus is the hands down winner if the voting is being done based on talent and sound. While others claim “we need the money” if you research the All-American Boy’s Chorus you will see that they are a non-profit organization. That means that NONE of their funding comes from public entities. They make their money from their performances and donations alone with ZERO help from tax funded state programs like public schools. This is a contest that is based on who’s the best…Not who needs it the most. Anyone with any music training or even an ear for music can easily hear that The All-American Boys Chorus is clearly the most talented and best sounding choir in this competition and therefore should be the winners if this is based solely on talent and sound.

Kudos to The Wave 94.7 for giving all of these delightful, hard-working and talented men and women and boys and girls the opportunity to be seen and heard by so many. Each group has clearly earned its place in this competition.
It’s wonderful to see the many positive comments and heart-felt support from so many of the choirs’ boosters, parents and friends. We’re all in this together and let’s keep in mind that we all make our southern California home a better place with our music, community service and holiday spirit!

This competition, given, is about talent but it’s also about these “kids” chaseing their dream and loveing it. St. Anne Harmon knights have my vote.(:

The All American Boys Chorus has performed around the world to high reviews of acclaim, but this was not sponsored in full by the chorus. Each of these boys were backed by their parents. That choir is non-profit and only receives money from donations, grants, or performances. Also, more than half of that choir consists of children that are in elementary school (between the ages of 8-11). However, their vocal quality rings clearly. Their harmony is perfect, and at least three of the boys have perfect pitch.
I do agree that the St. Anne’s choir consists of kids, talented ones at that. As a middle school choir, they would no doubt sweep any middle school choral competition they entered.
However, in the world of performing arts, age is not a crutch to lean on. The vocal quality of a child on the higher stages of performing arts, such as in this competition, should be compared to an adult on that same level. If the child must use their age to bring them up to par, they should be at a lower level. This competition is one in which children are competing against adults. The vocal quality of a child should be compared to the one of an adult with no biases made. The kids and adults that are in this contest are not here because it is about the kids. It is because of their talent.
It is my utmost belief that kids should chase their dreams and enjoy it in the process; but I also believe that no child should reach their dream because of favors granted due to their age, not their talent.

well…the all american boys chorus has toured the world many times, but these talented boys were funded by loving parents who care deeply about them. also, there arent even 1 million comments…so its highly improbable that that fact has been mentioned 10 million times. i definately agree that st annes are kids because as stated numerous times, they are in middle school. please remember though that the all american boys chorus is mainly compromised by elementary schoolers. so if you argue that this is about kids, the all american boys chorus definately falls under that catagory. st annes is extremely good for middle schoolers and woild definately take first place at choir competitions for middle school. however, this is a contest based off of talent, not age. if it was talent, the usc sirens would be duelin the philippine chamber choir and the all american boys chorus for the title. kids should chase their dreams, and personallu i prefer kids winning; but if kids win, i really would hope they earned the title by truly being tbe best.

Bernie-This is one of the most poorly put together promotions that I’ve ever seen. You have kids who are making a debut and kids who’ve been on KCET, and in front of the pope;,mature groups who’ve been singing the better part of their life etc. This is just not fair. The All American choir have a good sound but are a bit stuffy for an easy going guy like Brian McKnight. At least the St.Anne kids have charisma like Brian. Also,it seems very strange that every time ST.Anne’s choir takes the lead, that somehow the All Boys choir seems to rapidly, like clockwork , overtake St.Anne’s position.I would like to suggest that if both of these choirs end up in the top two postions that both teams get rewarded .

The winter wonderland is great idea and we want to see happy kids singing for the season, why can you have both of the professional choir like All American Boy and St. Anne Harmon Knight’s middle school show choir for the performance? St. Anne’s choir cheer me up!!!

What a wonderful, fine opportunity to have qualified as honored participants in this musical competition event presented thru 94.7 The Wave.
In that sense, you are all winners, and it will always remain among your fond memories, that you will never ever forget! E
