Chris Isaak’s Top Five Tantalizing Hits

This Friday night, the Hyatt Regency Newport Beach’s Summer Concert Series welcomes soulful, blue-eyed crooner Chris Isaak to the stage for what will surely be a tempting evening under the stars.

Isaak rocketed to fame in the early ’90s for devilish good looks and seductive songs often paired with equally provocative music videos. To get us in the mood for Isaak’s captivating performance this Friday night, let’s revisit some of those tantalizing hits that made Isaak so irresistible to the masses.

“Wicked Game” (1990)

It’s Isaak’s best known song that put him on the map, but it was his sexy black and white music video starring model Helena Christensen frolicking semi-nude on the beach with Isaak that really made people notice. The video won the MTV Video Music Awards for Best Male Video, Best Cinematography and Best Video from a Film.

“Somebody’s Crying” (1995)

Isaak’s second biggest charting hit, “Somebody’s Cryin'” was written after a break-up with his girlfriend at the time. The melancholy lyrics about a former lover was contrasted with the up-beat melody and a feel-good music video on the beach.

“Baby Did A Bad Bad Thing” (1995)

Used in the Stanley Kubrick film Eyes Wide Shut, the music video for Isaak’s brooding hit was so risqué that two versions were made to air at different times of the day. It featured French model Laetitia Casta masquerading in sexy lingerie, which helped rank it at #28 on VH1’s 50 Sexiest Video Moments.

“Blue Spanish Sky” (1991)

Released on his Wicked Game album, this mellow track about lost love made us all want to “Lay on my back and watch clouds roll by” as we listened to his dreamy voice.

“Can’t Do A Thing To Stop Me” (1993)

Released on his gold certified album San Francisco Days, “Can’t Do A Thing To Stop Me” featured Isaak’s alluring voice over wailing guitars that could make any woman’s heart skip.
