On Tuesday, Sept. 3rd, Pat Prescott welcomed saxophonist Jessy J in studio to talk about her forthcoming album Second Chances and debut its first single “Listen 2 The Groove” right here on The WAVE!
Second Chances is Jessy’s fourth studio album to date, and as the title suggests, is inspired by getting an opportunity to fix a mistake from the past.
“‘Second Chances’ is all about getting to redo something you messed up the first time,” Jessy explained. “It’s all about having that new experience, every day is a new possibility.”
As for the mistakes Jessy made in her past that inspired the theme of Second Chances, she laughs that she’s messed up “lots of things” but continues to move forward and grow from those lessons she’s learned.
For the album’s first single “Listen 2 The Groove,” Jessy enlisted the help of some of her famous friends to guest appear on the record including “the funkiest keyboardist around” Jeff Lorber, Jimmy Haslip “popping the bass” and her friend Johnny Britt providing backing vocals.
Jessy J’s new album Second Chances comes out on September 10th. Fans are invited to join Jessy J for a record release party and performance at the new Beverly Hills music hotspot H.O.M.E. on Tuesday, Sept. 10th at 7:30 p.m.
