Mary J. Blige kicked off game one of the 2013 World Series Wednesday night by singing the National Anthem on the field at Boston’s Fenway Park.

Blige showed off her patriotic side wearing an official blue World Series jacket with blue leather pants as she belted out her rendition of the “Star Spangled Banned” in front of millions of baseball fans.

“I feel so honored and so grateful to be here. I am so glad I was asked to do this. It means so much to me,” she said of the opportunity, according to MTV.

Her big finale was made even more powerful with a flyover of four fighter jets whizzing over the stadium before the players took their positions.

Game one went to the Boston Red Sox, who defeated the St. Louis Cardinal 8-1. Game two kicks off tonight at 5:07 in Boston.
