Built in 1930, and formerly known as the Fox Wilshire Theater, many a historic film was once shown at this beautiful art deco gem, including the premiere of How To Marry a Millionaire with Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall in attendance.
Converted to a stage venue in 1981, and given a loving and total refurbish in 2009, it was renamed the Saban Theater. Located at Wilshire Blvd and Hamilton Drive, the Saban is now home to television shoots (“Glee“), superstars of comedy (Joan Rivers, Don Rickles), community events (Paleyfest) and lots of diverse music acts.
The Saban Theater has recently featured classic acts like The Temptations, Gladys Knight, the late Bobby Womack, Eric Burdon and Ottmar Liebert.
Tonight (Friday 2/6) you can catch K. Michele. Legendary singer/songwriter Neil Sedaka is there tomorrow night (2/7). Jagged Edge/Tank appear on Valentine’s Day (2/14). Gino Vanelli will sing his million seller “I Just Wanna Stop” on Saturday night 2/28. Gino puts on an amazing show.
Also coming is rocker Pat Benatar (4/17), Jazz guitar great Al Dimeola (4/25), Folk legend Judy Collins (3/6), and Popstar David Cassidy 3/21. All of these artists popularity spans many generations, as does The Saban Theater, a great place to see a show.
