It seems like David Pack has been on the Southern California airwaves all of our lives. The graduate of Torrance High School first hit it big in the late 1970’s with his band “Ambrosia,” accumulating an array of hits that included “How Much I Fell,” “You’re The Only Woman” and “Biggest Part Of Me,” all of which we have played on The WAVE.

David recently re-united with his childhood friend Fred Beato. In high school, the two had a 9 piece band that won a national competition when they were both only 15.

Fred was born in pre-Castro Cuba, and was one of many children who escaped to America on his own at the age of 10. His mother joined him several years later, and is still with us today.

Fred has been very successful in manufacturing “Beato Bags,” attractive bags to carry both drums and computers. One of Fred’s best known customers is former Beatle, Ringo Starr.

Pack has helped Fred realize the dream of his adult life by co-creating a new band, just as they did as kids.

David Pack will perform solo at 8pm tonight at Sainte Rock in Hermosa Beach.  David joins Fred with the entire Beato Band at 9pm.  David is one of my favorite artists, and has been for decades. I wish him and Fred the very best. For more info:
