It’s a day that’s great to see! The wildly popular Starbucks is now planning to give its unsold food to people in need.  The franchise says it will no longer throw out its unsold perishable food items but instead will partner with the Feeding America food bank network and the Food Donation Connection to help stock their food banks.

The program was inspired by Starbucks baristas who argued for giving ready-to-eat meals to those in need instead of letting them go to waste.

So next time you see a Starbucks barista smile when giving you your caramel latte with extra soy milk, smile back and tell them thanks!  They’ve made a huge difference for so many.  Bravo!
