INGLEWOOD ( — Los Angeles Rams players took a break from preseason workouts Wednesday to help build a playground in Inglewood.

KCAL9’s Amy Johnson was there for all the blood and sweat (no tears).

The players, mostly rookies, were on hand with cheerleaders and Rams’ staff to build the playground for Woodworth Elementary School.

Most of the players acknowledged construction was not their forte, but build they did.

Players arrived around 3 p.m.; they were coming from their training facility in Oxnard. A long trip but many said worth the trek.

They got some brief instructions and tackled the task at hand — no fumbles.

“It’s always fun to help out the community,” says new quarterback Jared Goff. “We have a lot of guys doing a lot of things right now; we’re getting some good work done here on the playground.”

Nelson Spruce was also a novice with a hammer.
