If you’re wondering where I am today, I’m on my way to Hearst Ranch (just below Hearst Castle) to participate in the Best Buddies Challenge 2016.  It’s a great weekend of fun in the sun with some wonderful kids and their families and we make sure to be there every year.

Ask any parent of a child with Down Syndrome or intellectual challenge and they’ll tell you that one of the hardest things is when their kids get teased.  And that oftentimes it’s difficult for their kids to make friends at school.

Enter Best Buddies.  Each kid gets a buddy and they hang out together and do fun things.  It makes all the difference in the world to just have a friend.

So, on Saturday I’ll be riding 30 miles down the PCH starting north of San Simeon and ending up at the base of Hearst Castle.  My sister Peg will be riding with me, and so will many kids—riding on tandem bikes with their buddies.  I can’t wait!
