Mindi Abair and The Boneshakers are doing a free concert this Thursday night at Morongo, which you can RSVP for by calling 323-930-5521 or online here. She stopped by the station this morning to talk about it and as always, a good time was had by all. She also stuck around for a little overtime conversation.

Overtime with Mindi Abair:
Recently Mindi moved to Manhattan Beach with her boyfriend Eric and his two wonderful teenaged daughters. She loves the peaceful vibe of the beach, even though she still kept her very cool place in Hollywood, where she can sit in her backyard and hear the shows at the Hollywood Bowl. Mindi loves being a bonus Mom since as a working musician traveling on the road, having children never happened for her. She loves the opportunity and the challenge of contributing to the growth and development of the girls.
It’s hard to meet people these days, so I asked Mindi how she met Eric. It turns out that it was a Dave Koz hook-up, on a blind date at that! Mindi says that the first night they went out, they talked until 5 in the morning and became best friends. Three and a half years later, it’s an amazing positive change in her life.
Mindi believes it’s important for her next record to have a positive message for young women and girls. As an artist and creator, she feels she has the power to create change – to make fans think about things differently and to help them heal. I for one can’t wait to hear what she comes up with but in the meantime, we get to see and hear Mindi with the incredible Boneshakers on Thursday night at Morongo. RSVP today and come join us.
