Pat Prescott

Mon-Fri: 6AM-12PM

I’m proud to say I talk for a living. It really started when I was teaching middle school, talking to kids who sometimes could care less about what I was telling them but now I get to talk to some of the smartest, most musically savvy people in Southern California every weekday morning on The Wave. My first radio job was in New Orleans at WYLD-FM. From there I returned home to the east coast, moved in with my Mom for a while and became an on air host and music director at former legendary jazz station WRVR. Between my time at the National Black News Network, WBLS, WLIB and smooth jazz station WRVR, I spent 23 years in New York doing just about every on air job there is including news, talk shows, public affairs and even an on air workout program. Great opportunities just seem to come my way, like appearing for 10 years in Vy HIggensen’s off Broadway play “Mama I Want to Sing”.

Pat Prescott With Dave Koz

My good friend Dave Koz is responsible for convincing me to join him as co-host of the morning show on 94.7 The Wave in 2001 and I thank him for that every day. After Dave left, I spent three years co-hosting with Brian McKnight and am currently the only woman to lead a morning show in the LA market. I enjoy interacting with our listeners so I often say yes to requests to get involved in community events and currently I am teaching a radio broadcasting class at Santa Monica College, returning to my teaching roots. I’m proud of what I have accomplished as a broadcaster and the awards I have received, most notably the 2016 Genii Award for excellence in broadcasting from the Alliance for Women in Media and my six Smooth jazz personality of the Year awards from Radio and Records. I’m an avid reader who loves to travel and I do that regularly as a host on the Dave Koz and Friends at Sea and Capital Jazz Cruises as well as a few other fun music events.

Pat Prescott with Byron Scott

I think the coolest thing I have done recently is to launch my sports podcast “This Lady Loves Sports”, which you can find on the app. It’s a chance to marry my passion for sports with my passion for talking to people. Doing it for a living is truly a blessing.
